A Beleza Dos Números

The beauty of the numbers

A Beleza Dos Números means The Beauty of Numbers in Portuguese.
If you click on the pyramid, you will see an incredible YouTube video about number patterns! Enjoy!

The final slide says: Brilhante, não é?   E, finalmente, olhe essa simetria:
which means Brilliant, isn't it?   And finally, look at this symmetry:

1 x 1 = 1

11 x 11 = 121

111 x 111 = 12321

1111 x 1111 = 1234321

11111 x 11111 = 123454321

111111 x 111111 = 12345654321

1111111 x 1111111 = 1234567654321

11111111 x 11111111 = 123456787654321

111111111 x 111111111 = 12345678987654321

The Magic Gopher's Mathemagical Secret

This trick uses a mathematical procedure called casting out nines. When you take any 2-digit number and subtract the sum of the digits, the answer is always one of the following multiples of nine. (9, 18, 27, 36, 45, 54, 63, 72, or 81) Each time The Magic Gopher "reads your mind", the symbols for those multiples of nine are all the same!

Examples
  You choose 15. (1 + 5 = 6) and 15 - 6 =   9
   You choose 26. (2 + 6 = 8) and 26 - 8 = 18
You choose 39. (3 + 9 = 12) and 39 - 12 = 27
You choose 47. (4 + 7 = 11) and 47 - 11 = 36
    You choose 53. (5 + 3 = 8) and 53 - 8 = 45
You choose 68. (6 + 8 = 14) and 68 - 14 = 54
    You choose 70. (7 + 0 = 7) and 70 - 7 = 63
You choose 82. (8 + 2 = 10) and 82 - 10 = 72
You choose 94. (9 + 4 = 13) and 94 - 13 = 81
